Our story

More than thirtyfive years have gone by since that March 1, 1984, when Massimo Masselli, life-long restauranteur, took over the Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco. Thanks to his experience, personality and help of his family, in a short time Massimo managed to transform that historical location into an efficent and fun family restaurant, which boasts a clientele of all ages and nationalitties. Cinghiale Bianco is located on the ground floor of thirteenth century tower in Borg San Jacopo, one of the quaintest streets of medieval Florence, among art galleries, antique shops and fine boutiques. The first dining room is situated right in the old tower, with the original antique stone walls in view. The second dining room and the kitchen were built in the tower's old courtyard, which was covered by vaults in 1500 in order to best bear the weight of the historic building. With its characteristic and romantic charm, candle-list stone niches in "pietra serena", Cinghiale Bianco offers a very special ambience.

A true Florentine dining experience. We had two classic local dishes: wild boar tagliatelle in an authentic bolognaise sauce, giant 1.3kgs bistecca T-bone steak. Wow what a meal. Then finished off with a dreamy dolcie of profiteroles. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere cozy but busy. Highly recommend.

Delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. Lively atmosphere, informal and wonderful! Make a reservation. Ask the waiter to take you through the kitchen for a sneak peak of their new upscale ristorante Il Pavone - wonderful menu and all organic wines.
We share this find with all our friends. Enjoy!

We went out with some work friends upon the recommendation of our hotel concierge. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside but the food is excellent, right from the appetizer platter (the chicken pate was mouth watering) to the wild boar with polenta. Will definitely go back when in Florence again.
